Case Study Question: Ethical Dilemmas in Cybersecurity
Read the Case Study (Wade and Shackelford, 2021), and then proceed as per the instructions given below to prepare your report.
Instructions:
Identify the main ethical issue(s) involved in the above case study. Undertake further research into the ethical issue(s) involved to assist you in analyzing and discussing it in your report.
Analyze the actions of Joseph Blount, CEO of Colonial Pipeline on the associated ethical issues, from the perspective of your choice of Code of Professional Conduct (ACM, IEEE or ACS).
Analyze the ethical issue(s) by applying the classical ethical theories, including utilitarianism, deontology, contract, and virtue. Your report should present well- reasoned arguments, logically leading to appropriate recommendations.
Make recommendations as to what actions should have been taken by the CEO of Colonial Pipeline to uphold ethical conduct, providing reasons for these recommendations.
Write an overall conclusion that justifies the recommendations you make in your report.
Include a reference list at the end of your work, using the Adapted Harvard referencing style. You must include at least ten (10) quality academic references. All items included in the reference list must be cited (intext citations) within the body of the report.

Student Assessment Citation and Referencing Rules
Adapted Harvard ReferencingRules
Holmes has implemented a revised Harvard approach to referencing. The following rules apply:
Reference sources in assignments are limited to sources that provide full-text access to the
source’s content for lecturers and markers.
The reference list must be located on a separate page at the end of the essay and titled:
“References”.
The reference list must include the details of all the in-text citations, arranged A-Z alphabetically by author surname with each reference numbered (1 to 10, etc.) and each reference MUST include a hyperlink to the full text of the cited reference source. For example:
All assignments must include in-text citations to the listed references. These must include the surname of the author/s or name of the authoring body, year of publication, page number of the content, and paragraph where the content can be found. For example, “The company decided to implement an enterprise-wide data warehouse business intelligence strategies (Hawking et al., 2004, p3(4)).”
Non-Adherence to Referencing Rules
Where students do not follow the above rules:
For students who submit assignments that do not comply with the rules, a 10% penalty will be applied.
As per the Student Handbook, late penalties will apply each day after the student/s has been notified of the due date.
