Purpose:

This assessment helps you learn how to observe and document teacher practice and its impact on children’s learning. You will draw on the EYLF Learning Outcome 5 and CLASS V2.0 to support your analysis and synthesis.

Instructions:

  • Download and follow the assessment template.
  • Choose ONE video from the list provided to observe and analyse.
  • Watch the video carefully and complete the observation section of the template.
  • Analyze your observation using the CLASS Domains and Dimensions and by linking it to the EYLF Learning Outcomes.
  • Reference all relevant frameworks and documents (e.g., EYLF, VEYLDF, CLASS) using Holmes adapted Harvard referencing style.
  • Submit your final assessment using the template.

  2. Use examples observed in the videos that exemplify the CLASS Dimensions and the Domain to which they belong.
  3. Describe the teaching strategies (either positive or negative)that impact on the children’s learning.
