Group Assignment Guidelines and Specifications

Instructions for Group Class Facilitation:

Students are required to form groups of four, with all members belonging to the same class. Each group will be assigned a unique topic, and no two groups will work on the same one. The assigned topics can be found in the file HI6036 Class Facilitation Topics.pdf available on Blackboard. All group members are expected to actively communicate and collaborate in preparation for the presentation.

Groups must contact the lecturer or tutor to schedule a presentation time during class. Presentations should be well-structured, logically organized according to the required format, and visually

engaging. Each presentation must not exceed 15 minutes and will be followed by a 5-minute session for questions and class discussion.

After the presentation, each group must submit their slides in .ppt or .pptx format via Blackboard. Failure to do so will result in a mark of zero.

Structure of the Presentation:

Each group’s presentation should follow the structure outlined below to ensure a comprehensive and logical flow:

  • Introduction: Briefly introduce the selected case study and provide relevant background information about the organization, including its industry, size, and market presence.
  • Problem Statement: Clearly identify the main challenges or issues faced by the organization prior to its strategic transformation. Explain why these challenges are significant and how

they impact the organization’s operations and objectives.

  • Information System Strategy Analysis: Analyse the organization’s existing information systems strategy. Discuss key components such as technology infrastructure, data

management, cyber security, and alignment with business goals. Assess how effective the current strategy is in addressing the identified challenges.

  • Recommendations: Present well-justified recommendations for improving or transforming the organization’s information systems strategy. Consider technical, organizational, and

managerial factors. Ensure each recommendation directly addresses the previously identified problems.

  • Conclusion: Summarize the key insights, strategic issues, and recommendations discussed in your presentation.

Note on Group Work

As this is a group assignment, by default all members of the group will receive the same grade.

However, this is assuming that all members of the group contribute equally. If during the course of

the assignment a group member is not contributing their fair share of work, for whatever reason, the group should contact their unit coordinator or tutor as soon as possible. Arrangements will then be made to grade each member differently based on input to the project. If the group is satisfied with

the level of input from each member, then there is no need to contact the unit coordinator or tutor. In the absence of any advice from the group members on such matters, all members will receive the same final grade.

It may be possible that the unit coordinator or tutor will decide to grade the group members

differently based on their own observations of contact, file sharing and messaging within the group folder.
