 ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE

 

Quality teaching and learning for young children are outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Early childhood teachers can utilize this framework to work effectively with children in early childhood settings. It is crucial that early childhood teachers understand and apply this framework to develop their teaching philosophy, ensuring they provide quality teaching and support children's learning and development.

 To complete your assessment task, follow the below instructions.

1. OVERVIEW (300 WORDS)

- Write a brief overview of your teaching philosophy developed throughout the unit. Use the guiding questions provided to help shape your response (300 words). 

 GUIDING QUESTIONS

  • Role as an Educator: What is your role as an educator in early childhood settings? (You can use a metaphor and explain the metaphor)
  • Beliefs and Values: What do you believe in this teaching profession? What do you value as an early childhood teacher?
  • Education Aims: From your personal perspective, what should be the educational aims for early childhood education?
  • Image of Children: How do you view children? What is your image of a child, and how do you embed this image in your teaching practice?

2. ELABORATION AND IMPLEMENTATION

- Elaborate on your teaching philosophy with a link to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and articulate how you will implement your teaching philosophy through practical strategies in your future teaching practice.

    • Explain how your teaching philosophy aligns with the EYLF.
    • Outline specific strategies that reflect your teaching philosophy and align with the EYLF.
    • Describe how these strategies will be applied in your future teaching practice to support children’s learning and development.
  • Theoretical Justification:
    • Justify your approach with reference to relevant theories on children’s learning and development to provide a strong theoretical rationale for your teaching practices, and investigate how these practices can benefit all children in early childhood settings.
    • You may unfold your ideas using the below guiding questions/layout:

  • Criterion 2: Examine elements of quality practice in early childhood settings linking to EYLF and their significance for children and families ​
  • Criterion 3: Use a broad evidence based and in-depth knowledge of theories and research and theories informed pedagogical practices​
  • Criterion 4: Poster Layout 
  • Criterion 5: Ability to systematically apply APA referencing conventions appropriately and accurately​
