Assessment 3 Information

Your Task

Analyse a leadership case study which is based on a real-life scenario and prepare a written report which provides recommendations for a suitable leadership approach to address the issues identified in the case.

Assessment Description

This assessment brings together the topics of Weeks1-12andprovidesanopportunityforstudentsto apply leadership theory to a practical scenario.Specifically,students will analyse a given case-study/ leadership scenario to identify issues,and consider the most relevant leadership theories which can inform there solution of the issues,and then make recommendations for the most appropriate approach to leading a path forward to resolution and positive outcomes.

Assessment Instructions

This is an individual assessment which is to be complete dout-of-class.

In Week 9, students will be provided with a case study, as a separate document, via the Assessment 3 tab in MyKBS. This is the only case study which can be used for this assessment. Do not submit a practice case study or choose your own case study from a text book etc. While the case study is fictitious, it does depict a real-life and recent organisational and leadership scenario.

Students will analyse the case study and respond to the questions posed at the end of the case study in a 1500 word report style format as follows:

1. Introduction(150words):
   1. A brief outline of the purpose and structure of the report.
2. Background and main issue(200 words)
   1. Provide a brief overview of the case and identify the main issue or problem and a sub- issue or problem.
3. Analysis of the issues or problems identified in(2)above.(800 words)
   1. Discuss why the problems or issues identified may have occurred(cause)using at least one (1) concept, model or theory.
   2. Suggest at least one(1)other concept,model or theory that may help explain the main or sub-issues or problems identified above.
   3. Support the analysis with a direct connection and link between the concepts,models, or theories applied, and provide support with specific examples from the case study.
4. Recommendations(200words)
   1. Based on the concepts, models or theories discussed in (3) above, make two (2) specific recommendations to the company's leadership team about how to remedy the problem or issue and prevent its recurrence.
   2. Ensure the recommendations are workable, practical and directly related to the case study.
5. Conclusion(150words):
   1. Succinctly summarise the key findings of the analysis and recommendations.
6. Reference List(Not included in word count)
   1. A minimum of four(4)academic references(credible and reliable)must be integrated into the report analysis using KBS Harvard formatting. In-text citations are mandatory.

NOTE:The “Case-Study Method” will be practiced in the workshop of Week 6 – Study Success Week.This workshop will include discussion about how Chat GPT may be used to assist with in case analysis by summarising.This assessment therefore allows students to augment their analysis with Chat GPT or similar AI tool.The report, however, must be prepared by the student and referenced accordingly.
