Assessment 1 - Essay 1500 words - (30%)

Purpose of the task: 

This is an individual assessment. Students are expected to develop a critical and analytical essay (1,500 words excluding references) that critiques the following statement- “To fully understanding and apply Quality and Quality Management techniques demands that organisational leaders take values, ethics and culture into consideration”

The essay should include: 

• A critical review and analysis of the importance of quality and quality management to organisations and their leaders.
• A critical and analytical analysis of the relevant academic literature pertaining to quality, quality management and their relationship to organisational values and ethics and culture.
• An identification of the similarities and differences between what the literature indicates about quality, quality management and their relationship to organisational values and ethics andculture  (i.e., different authors may have alternative opinions or views on the topic(s) and or similar views- what are they?).
• A discussion of how understanding these topics could be applied to or contribute to your management ability to improve quality and quality management in a managerial role now or in the future.

What the task involves: 

You are expected to develop an essay (1,500 words excluding references) that critiques the following statement- “To fully understanding and apply Quality and Quality Management techniques demands that organisational leaders take values, ethics and culture into consideration”

You must use a minimum of three (3) peer reviewed academic article in your essay. 

Your essay must: 

• Critically review and analyse the importance of quality and quality management to organisations and their leaders.
• A critical and analytically analyse the relevant academic literature pertaining to quality, quality management and their relationship to organisational values and ethics and culture.
• Identify the similarities and differences between what the literature indicates about quality, quality management and their relationship to organisational values and ethics and culture. This means identifying the similarities and differences between what the literature indicates about the topic (i.e., different authors may have alternative opinions or views on the topic(s) and or similar views- what are they?).
• Discuss how understanding these topics could be applied to or contribute to your management ability to improve quality and quality management in a managerial role now or in the future.

Structure of your essay: 

• Introduction to the topic- including the aims, objectives and focus of the critical and analytical essay review, and you position on the topic.
• Main body- A Critically review and analyse the importance of quality and quality management to organisations and their leaders; A critical analysis of the relevant academic literature pertaining to quality, quality management and their relationship to organisational values and ethics and culture.
• Conclusion- Discuss how understanding these topics could be applied to or contribute to your management ability to improve quality and quality management in a managerial role now or in the future.
• References (in sentence and in a reference list)
