Portfolio: ‘The term portfolio is used as a catch-all that covers a wide range of methods for collating learning material and assessed work’ (McMillan and Weyers, 2008, p.38). For the purposes of this assessment, your professional portfolio will include the research and analysis you completed in the research essay on an industry or sector of your choice to position yourself as a professional in your preferred industry/sector that enable you to reflect on your development in productive ways.

Portfolio Tasks

Task 1: (A formative submission of this task should be made by the end of session 4) Choose a company and focus on one of its business processes*. Based on what you have learnt during the sessions 1-4

  1. Illustrate the selected business process in a process map or a flow chart, to identify its main activities and the sequence of them.
    1. Identify the main decisions being made in this process and discuss the required inputs and outputs of each decision.
    1. Discuss how the selected process, or some part of it, can be digitised and may benefit from digital transformation.

* Note: The chosen company can be private or public; service or manufacturing; small or large; local or international. You are strongly advised to choose a company, which you can observe its business processes or can easily collect information about it. The selected business process should not be necessarily very complex or technologically advanced. Some diverse examples of business process may include “receiving orders and serving food in a takeaway restaurant”, “making customised premium furniture for designer brands”, or “picking, washing, sorting and packing fresh fruits and vegetables in a farm”.

2.  Plagiarism and Collusion

4.  Submission

  1. Students shall experience both formative and summative assessment

Formative assessment assists student learning by providing early feedback to help students to improve their learning, building on their strengths and targeting weaknesses that require closer attention. It does not contribute directly to the module result, or to progression and award decisions.

  • All final coursework must be submitted to the Final Submission point in the right module in the VLE and not to the lecturer or to the College Examination Office. All students will be required to submit via the same method, and against the same deadlines, unless an adjustment has been agreed on grounds of disability or other extenuating circumstances. 5.  Extension and Late Submissions

  1. If you need an extension for a valid reason, you must request one using an Extenuating Circumstances (EC) form available from the College Examination Office and on the ICON VLE. Please note that lectures do not have the authority to extend the coursework deadlines and therefore do not ask them to award a coursework extension. The completed form must be accompanied by evidence such as a medical certificate in the event of you being sick and should be submitted to the College Examination Office.
  • Only one opportunity for reassessment (resubmission) will be permitted and the assessment will be capped at Pass for the unit. Students will be required to submit referred coursework over the

6.  Resitting a Module

  1. A resit is a second attempt at an assessment without any additional tuition and with marks capped at the Pass mark

7.  Repeating a Module

  1. A repeat is a second attempt at an assessment in the following academic session with marks capped at the Pass mark
  • A student who has failed 2/3 of the modules (40 credits) in both Final/Late submission and in the Resubmission must retake the modules with full attendance and payment of the module fee.
  • Repeating students must be reassessed in all the components of the failed module(s) and can only submit once.

INTRODUCTION

Data analysis is one of the most important aspects as it helps in evaluating the important factors of the company that possesses a lot of value in the current market scenario (Vargas-Solar, Zechinelli-Martini and Espinosa-Oviedo, 2020). In this report there is a detailed examination of PETRONAS which is established in Malaysia and is operating since a pretty long time and thus has captured a much larger share in the market as compared to other competitors that are operating in the similar industry. Apart from that the report covers all the things that are very important for the firm including its sales and human resource department and it also covers the usage of big data in an impactful manner so that it can lead to adding the value of the company in the industry in which it is performing.

The business specializes in oil and gas sector operations, repairs, and servicing. High Level Strategy has been assisting in the growth of Malaysia’s oil and gas sector and it will continue to

do so. HIGHBASE provides a full range of containment vessel and water storage cleaning, repair, and maintenance services (fixed and floating roofs). Project management, general and dimension survey, works coping and job pack preparation, resource & procurement planning, project materials procurement, pressure vessels / tanks cleaning, repair, and maintenance are only a few of the resources available. HAZMAT and TENORM services are available. HIGH BASE completed approximately 200 projects involving over 800 pressure vessels offshore and onshore between 2005 and December 2013 (Sharma, Srivastava and Mago, 2019). HIGH BASE also has extensive experience cleaning, repairing, and maintaining storage tanks at crude oil refineries and terminals. We will have greater value by leveraging our extensive expertise and service capabilities. Its key vision is to be the Oil and Gas industry’s preferred global service provider, and its primary mission is to provide advanced technology and creative solutions to meet customers’ needs, as well as to improve, extend, and add value to services in order to ensure continued growth while fostering sustainability in business activities through the combination of economic, HSE, and social considerations. High base Strategic Sdn Bhd’s primary business is management and maintenance services. HSSB provides the critical services required by the oil and gas sector to ensure that the business runs smoothly and efficiently in terms of the time, with no damages or injuries that could halt a project’s workflow. The portion of the Highbase Operation & Maintenance team is in charge of making this happen. The team will make certain that everything is in order and under power. The team takes care of creating job sets, site surveys, and final reports. These files are necessary to ensure that perhaps the works that the HSSB has contracted with any company run efficiently and on schedule. The main products of it is High base Strategic Sdn Bhd does not manufacture any particular products under the High base brand. The High base Company’s products come from a variety of suppliers and companies that specialise in creating products that are specifically designed for the best Oil & Gas Industry Operation & Maintenance Services. It provides the appropriate equipment, materials, and consumables for the market’s services. It is renowned for using the highest quality materials available for any services rendered by the High base Business, such as repair, cleaning, or services, in order to ensure that every customer of the High base Strategic Sdn Bhd deliver the right service and also has the highest level of customer satisfaction possible. Whereas the services that it provides in the market in which it operates are as follows-

They are also designed to eliminate or minimise the possibility of any unnecessary disruption that could result in a drop in our client’s production rate. They can also avoid other significant failures, such as penalties that could result in financial losses and leaks that could hurt staff or the environment. These resources will be discussed in greater depth in the information section later (Liu and Heer, 2018).

There are a lot of decisions that are made in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the company and the ones that are mostly used enables to improve the overall safety so that a trust can be build so that it can result in the increase in the performance many fold times. A strong foundation since its inception, Strategic Sdn Bhd has emphasized the importance of healthy work practices. It has developed a set of guidelines that must be followed and that can vary depending on the situation. It has also made it illegal for office staff to smoke in all of the office’s internal areas (Metzenbaum, 2018). This is due to the fact that the offices’ wall shelves are piled high with work pack papers. Any fire that starts with the papers has the potential to set the whole building on fire. Staff must also observe proper workplace conducts, according to other office laws. Staff should not participate in dangerous or unsafe behaviours that could hurt or endanger them or the environment. As seen in the image above, the regular attire collection that is permitted in office areas. When attending important events, the wardrobe must always be at least business casual, with the choice of wearing a jacket for an official look. While reaching non-shoes office areas, shoes and socks are required to be removed. When it comes to the protection of those who work in the yard area at the back of the office, they must adhere to different laws than those who work in the office. The key idea behind the rules is to ensure the

safety of yard staff in the event of any unexpected injuries or accidents. The yard safety regulations are almost identical to any field site staff in any Oil & Gas Industrial safety rules, with the exception that they are less stringent. Any employee in the yard section, regardless of position, must always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). If an office worker wishes to go to the yard area, he or she must follow these laws. A collection of coveralls, a hard hat, as well as a set of safety boots are the minimum PPE requirements for entering the yard field. Higher effective Tactical personnel wore a Reflector Vest, a Kassie, as well as a set of Safety Boots as standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing any work that could result in accidents or injuries (Maalouf, Jubran and Feldman, 2019).

The firm has started the use of finger based system of attendance so that the work hours of each and every employee can be calculated in a very precise format so that it can help in a fair evaluation and analysis of all the aspects that are concerned with the operation of the company in the long term scenario. Apart from that the production process has also been increased in the organisation as the company has procured latest technological machines that reduces labour work and tends to increase the capacity of production and also helps in decreasing the overall cost that is incurred while producing per unit of output (Zhuge, Wang and Strazdins, 2016).

There are a lot of different systems of management that helps a company to grow and prosper in the current market situation in which it is operational since it is very competitive and dynamic in nature. The most important aspect from it’s is the sales and human resource sine they

add to the value of the company and proves useful in increasing as well as improving its overall conditioning and positioning in the long term context. The sales department is one of the most important factors since it helps in improving the performance of the firm by increasing its volume of output that the company is generating in the current industry (Elyan, Garcia and Jayne, 2018). The management of sales involves managing all the aspects that are closely related with it like the quantity and quality of the product and services that the firm is generating in the market so that it can maximise the experience of its customers which can prove beneficial in increasing its market value and that too in a competitive environment. While the human resources department helps in getting a perfect candidate for the work so that the expertise and knowledge of the person can be used in the company so as to make it more profitable and subsequently growth can be attained in the long run. There is a proper method of selection that is used in the process so that the deserving candidate can be chosen from all the alternatives that  are present before the company and the human resource department helps it to select the best candidate that can enhance the value of the enterprise in the market in which it is operational. Thus it can be said that all the factors are very much crucial and critical at the same time for each and every firm that is operating in the market irrespective of the industry in which they are working but the aspects of sales and human resource are the most important as well as essential as they are regarded as the backbone of the firm that is mentioned above sine it possess a lot of value for it in the current industry of working (Nikolayevskyy and Omelchenko, 2018).

The application of big data in the enterprise is not just restricted to a single department rather it is used in the evaluation of all the aspects so that it can lead to the fulfilment of all the factors which can lead to a combined growth and development of the organisation as a whole. The use of it is mostly done for preparing and presenting the products that the company renders in the current market so that it can help in the increment in the customer base so that it can lead to capturing of a much larger base of customer which can substantially increase its overall value and position in the market and thus it can enable it to stand well ahead of all its competitors that are prevailing in the market (Shaikhha and Parreaux, 2019).

There are a number of different intelligence tools and techniques that are used by various firms in order to increase and improve its overall performance so that it can prove beneficial in increase the volume of sales and subsequently profitability of the company in the long run. Intelligence tools possess a lot of importance as they can it carriers a lot of value as it increasing the performance aspect while reducing the overall cost that may be incurred in the absence of it and thus the firm that uses it in the industry becomes very profitable in the market. The intelligence tool that is expected to do for the business firm that is chosen above is that it can increase the actual performance and thus as a result standards are to be set high which is one of the sign that the firm is growing internally as well as externally. The tool that can prove very useful is the artificial intelligence as it helps in increasing the potential of the employees that are working and also does calculations, analysis, and evaluation in an accurate and precise manner so that appropriate decisions can be taken which can help the company to increase its potential in terms of volume of sales as well as profitability (Naimipour, Guzdial and Shreiner, 2020).

The business tool that is suggested above is artificial intelligence and it is the one that is mostly used by big firms in order to increase their efficiency and effectiveness rate so that wastage can be reduced or nullified which can further result in increased profitability in the market of operation. It can help the taken business company to increase its competitiveness since it can result in decreased cost and thus the profit can be directly transferred to the customers which can further result in increased base of customers that are attracted towards the product and services of the firm. Apart from that it can result in increased value of the stakeholders too since if the profitability is more than it can substantially result in increased profits for the company and thus interest of the prospective stakeholders also rises which directly affects the working of the company in a appositive manner (Hall and Wall, 2019).

The suggested tool for the company is artificial intelligence as it is help a lot to the company and can increase its substantial performance and can lead to the accomplishment of all the desired objectives and that too within a limited time frame (Dashti Rahmat Abadi, 2017). The different aspects of it are discussed below in detailed with reference to the organisation that is mentioned above-

Security issues- Artificial intelligence gives an upper hand to the company in increasing its security as it is very much secured and works in a pattern that is impossible to decode and hence provides extra security to the data and documents of the firm and thus leaking of it cannot be done if it is used in the company.

Social impacts of the business- The social impacts of the business are very crucial and thus it keeps a tab on it so that it can help in the growth and development of the society as a whole (Chiu, Lin and Jou, 2019).

CONCLUSION

It can be concluded from the above that it is very important as well as crucial for the company to analyse and evaluate all the factors that are directly as well as indirectly associated with the firm so that appropriate and necessary decisions and adjustments can be taken and that too within the limited time frame so that it can help the company to grow in the market in which it is operating.
