An individual need to continuously focus on enhancing the skills and traits so that they could exponentially grow and develop. The study has been mainly focused on evaluating my learning experience while working at Tesco. I have witnessed continuous development in my skills and knowledge while working at Tesco. The study also sheds lights on specific creative and leadership skills while working. A summative assessment has also been carried out in the study, the summative assessment mainly comprises a 360-degree performance appraisal review. With the help of this framework, I was able to understand that my performance mainly meets expectations.
I believe in continuous development and learning, I also believe that learning is a continuous process and I need to learn from my experience. I want to become an effective and successful leader in the future and for that to happen, I needs to enhance existing skills and attain new skills. I need to work on my problem solving, time management and leadership skills. Currently, I am performing the role of senior marketing manager in Tesco and my future goal is to become the department head. I know that the goal is challenging but handwork and right approach would allow me to accomplish the desired goals and objectives.
I have been in the field of marketing for about half a decade. I have been promoted to the senior retail marketing manager in Tesco. Tesco was the first organisation where I started working and with the help of growth opportunities, I was able to accomplish my career goal. My career goal was to become a marketing manager and lead a marketing team. Tesco is the leader in the UK’s retail sector as it holds more than 25% of the entire retail market share. Tesco believes that their success is the result of employee’s dedication, hard work and commitment. Tesco focuses on providing growth opportunities to all of its employees so that they could continue to grow and develop (Anderson, 2020). As I started my career journey at Tesco, I was able to learn and attain various skills, traits and knowledge. The skills and knowledge that I have attained are quite
crucial and enhance my performance. I have participated in numerous training and development programmes provided by Tesco. The training and development programs were mainly focused on my weaknesses and the skills that are essential in the coming future. As I was in the marketing field, I learned and enhanced some very important skills. Tesco not only allows its employees to attain skills mainly related to job roles, but Tesco also allows its employees to attain leadership and creativity skills.
I am able to believe that this theme has served me exceptionally well. I’ve encountered some items over and through my stay, which I might potentially apply in my future career. It is difficult to deny to retain my learning of how to benefit higher levels of studies at universities but also develop expertise in applying the understanding which we have gained from the course and better to enhance your enthusiasm in achieving improved academic performance at academic level. It is also true, I have met few challenges during this period, which I believe are weak analysis skills, lack of encouragement to attempt myself into position, and that sometimes fall behind the job schedule are key issues to approach. I learned some self-regulatory approaches based upon the learning that would be beneficial to get my tasks solved on the basis of academic excellence: a self-regulatory perspective. Some of the experiences I deal with about my issue of poor analysing skills are the one of job, and the comments on tasks indicate that I tend to concentrate on the word of the author rather than on her message and I missed the connection between two writers. “In the reading, Zimmerman says that the way of evaluating assignments and utilising particular useful learning approaches refers to “self-regulating assignment strategies.” On assignment one, to keep my issues will be found, improving self-regulation strategies such as searching for great project methods would be a constructive method to solve my problems. It’s the new technique for me to master tasks, read several times from author’s post, for order to obtain a better understanding of the author’s intent.
Another self-regulation approach that I know is assistance seeking referred to the selecting of societal sources of insights or skills such as trends, learning tutors or learning books. When I completed my task, I conducted some internet research and thought from others about the study on an assignment. Upon completing the article, I created some reports that are used on the essay’s premises, including thoughts on what others read.
Owing to some odd circumstances what I have not done enough is seek help from teachers and lecturers, maybe this is why I have a weak understanding of job-related studies. It is possible to develop this strategy rapidly and constructive engagement with the role is important.
In other words, inability to see myself tried to join the job in focus is the same thing because I was not fooled to look on my authorship motives absolutely, but because I am able to find the right details that authors would try to present them in this opportunity. The third problem I met was that I am always not the project plan. Sticking points for this problem are time Management and Self-Monitoring, based on the 7 strategies alluded to in the reading. The cycle manager time’s self-regulatory phase relates to time calculation and budgeting. As far as the experience I gained through task one is concerned, I admit that I did not use my time well. Because my bad time management, I press at the last minute in order to complete task, I do not have time for any irregular activity as network inactivity, which mostly triggers delayed task submissions one minutes by five minutes, with 10 percentage reduced from time to time. I’ve strengthened time management over the semester by this group assignment job as I smell the pressure from group member who identify the objective clearly, set subtask deadlines so that I get myself involved in the assignment work, make every subtask I accomplish
before the timing, not hurry as one in past minutes as I did in assignment one thing to do… Not only has this experience in group activities strengthened my group workmanship, I have helped me be more successful in the management of time. The other critical method that drives I fail that of being placid and that it’s that’ self-surveillance involves selective recording of one own outcome. Based on the experience of the group assignment, everything I’ve been able to learn from group members is always monitoring each subtask outcomes, or immediately fixing mistakes instead of carrying on the job, because you were washing time from running a misdirection in the direction of it.
I realised how crucial it would be to control the outcomes done in the near term based on an individual experience to track the results of each subtask, and address the error I made in times. I would not waste time to write an incorrect principle or theory. Therefore, each step through it is possible. I must understand and then avoid posting the wrong submission time. This will also make the implementation. The self-regulation strategies addressed above such as self- management time management, self-evaluation are topics about which I feel I care if I lack such steps and optimum group working abilities.
Marketing management is the next logical step along the career path. Marketing managers build marketing plans, maintain them and review them. This position requires additional leadership characteristics as marketing managers are to coordinate marketing campaign execution and improve processes while promoting employee development at the enterprise level. The marketing director concentrates on the marketing campaign. Once research and marketing managers have received reports outlining the terms of the market, consumer data and the actions of their rivals, marketing managers adapt the overall approach to suit their business objectives. Our aim is to encourage the intention of purchasing and enthusiasm of potential consumers of the brand.
A mix of leadership, technical and business skills is required for marketing position. The marketing head is also expected to work through divisions within the organisation to resolve any differences and improve the companies’ goods and/or services regularly as a spokesperson for the company. Besides promotional and team-oriented tasks, interviews and recruit for major positions in the organisation may also be included in the role of the VP. My future goal is to become the marketing head of Tesco.
Every day, leaders take innumerable decisions and face unheard-of problems. Overnight could change what worked yesterday. The pace is constraining, the stakes high, but I have to lead a team to produce extraordinary results consistently have great rewards. The leaders, subordinates and the environment are the three critical determinants of teamwork. These factors depend on each other. It is the duty of the leader to make the world workable. I have to instructs workers to work as a team in the spirit of collectivism.
Time is important and necessary but in management it is sometimes ignored. Three dimensions of time, time imposed by managers, time imposed by the system and time imposed by itself are significant in literature. I have to understand time management concepts, such as time charts, organising strategies, etc., he is able to use time productivity in organisations. Managers are most often hard at work and are too distracted with minor items to deal with big efficiency information. To fill the void, I often aim to achieve productivity by promoting and fostering team work, enhancing time management and proper use of power.
In order to develop a personal development plan, a personal SWOT Analysis needs to be conducted. The SWOT analysis would allow me to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses. I would focus on strengthening the strength and overcoming the weaknesses.

One is drawn in many directions as a leader. In a heartbeat, priorities change, and at any point, one does not know what questions or challenges one of the members of your team will carry. Almost every leader I know is more efficient and wants to do so. It is more important than one knows to improve leadership productivity for your well-being and success. Let’s speak in full view of leadership efficiency because it is more than you. While I’m not a huge fan of ‘busy,’ I know that everyone has plenty to do. We are responsible for leadership and management and so others also have their own duties. It can be very daunting if we have no more productive methods and strategies. And even though leaders may have more on their board than the team members, they will say the same thing in most situations. With market growth and aspirations of us rising, efficiency is not just expertise that allows us to succeed (Shanmuganathan et al. 2020). It is important for survival. I have rated my productivity as very good in the formative assessment and meets expectations in summative assessment, I need to improve my productivity.
Everyone wants quality, but to different people, quality means different things. Some people see it from the viewpoint of the customer, while others see it from the point of view of the supplier. Essentially, the perceived quality meets the needs of the individual who seeks it. When quality is established, management must take three measures to ensure that their quality process is effectively enforced and preserved. The dedication to a quality process involving the workers directly inside a business would contribute to effective implementation and will help to sustain it. I have rated my quality of work very good in the formative assessment and meets expectations in summative assessment.
As a marketing manager in Tesco, I have pretty crucial responsibilities on my shoulder and I have to ensure that I possess the right skills to perform my duties and job role. My skills and knowledge have been continuously improving and I would state that I do possess the required
skills for the current job role. Tesco’s growth opportunities such as training and development programs have allowed me to attain the required skills and traits. I have rated my job skills as excellence is formative assessment and meets the requirement in the summative assessment.
I consider communication as one of the most crucial skills that every member of the organisation needs to possess and continuously develop. In these five years, I have been able to enhance my communication skills but I believe that there is a lot of room for development. I have to communicate with my peers, team members and subordinates in order to understand their perception. Through communication, I have to motivate and encourage employees and team members. I strongly believe that there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of communication so I have rated communication as competent in the formative assessment and below expectations in the summative assessment.
Interpersonal skills are quite the importance of leaders and managers especially in the field of retail marketing. As a manager, we have to communicate directly to clients, customers and other stakeholders to understand the drawbacks of products and their demand. Interpersonal skills are not only important for communicating with clients and customers, but it also important and effective in building and maintaining a positive relationship with the employees and team members (Gopinath and Titus, 2018). Managers assess the value of strong interpersonal skills on a scale from 1 to 5 at 4.37 just under the ‘team working ability (which obviously comes in at 4.49). (which obviously comes in at 4.49). However, there is reason to value them so seriously; while the majority of the workplace businesses now run by instant messaging apps, verbal and diplomatic skills still need to be present in order to cooperate efficiently with the colleagues and superiors (Gunasekare, 2017). Interpersonal skills foster effective communication and allow to motivate and encourage employees. I found the interpersonal skill quite important and I believe that there is a lot of room for improvement. I have rated my interpersonal skill as competent in formative assessment and below expectations in summative assessment.
In my five years of working experience, I have attained and enhanced numerous skills. However, there is always room for development and I believe that I need more experience to develop my creative and leadership skills and attributes. It is quite essential to understand where the skills stand at, so I would be ranking my creative leadership skills. Following are the skills that I have obtained while working at Tesco:
Problem Solving: Good leaders are prepared to solve problems on the job. Successful problem resolution also requires calmness and a step-by-step approach. Solutions of problems will assist leaders in rapidly making decisions, overcoming barriers together with teams and external teams, and ensuring that the tasks are completed as defined on time. Things don’t always operate perfectly, even with the best leaders, staff, concepts, strategies and intentions. The ability to roll the punch while staying objective and optimistic is key to the smartest course (Mayfield and Mayfield, 2017).
Creativity: Creative leaders would look at things in new ways and fix challenges by not seeing other things. Inventiveness, imagination, ingenuity, vision, progressivity, originality and resourcefulness are the synonyms for creativity.
Decision Making: with an advanced decision-making capacity can select from a range of options quality and aware. The decision-making method uses other competencies, including principles, planning and coordination and problem resolution, described in the Leaders Are Clear Thinkers Section. The leadership of tomorrow will have increased demands in an increasingly uncertain world for successful decisions to be made soon. This segment teaches you the skills required for timely decisions, even under extreme pressure. Effective decisions must be made in the best possible way as the desires and interests of the community are considered (Koseoglu et al. 2017).
Relationship building: Management demands that a strong and collaborative community of people work towards the same goal and is produced and sustained. Other strengths, such as strong communication skills and conflict resolution, are required for team building. The building of relationships is probably one of the most essential qualifications for leadership, as it facilitates coordination of roles, obligations and priorities. You will then be able to compare strengths, assign tasks and complete your aims more smoothly until you understand each other.
Flexibility: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my flexibility skill at 7. Flexible leaders are willing to change their plans in line with the facts. In the midst of transformations or times of chaos, they thus preserve efficiency. Leaders who understand this shift in skills are accessible and willing to collaborate with a wide variety of individuals. The leaders of tomorrow need to learn to treat insecurity and uncertainty as to the new standard. Being versatile requires fantastic improvements, but also tricks down to modifying daily activities. This section gives you tips on how to respond in a varied work environment in an unpredictable way (Zaharia, 2016).
Empathy: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my empathy skill at 8. I am able to develop and maintain a positive relationship with my peers and subordinates. Empathy like no other skills is a leadership competence that can have a significant effect in the area of leadership. Empathy involves knowing other people’s needs. It means that you are conscious of their emotions and thoughts. It doesn’t mean that you must agree with their opinions, but – it means you’re able to understand them and understand them. Many people become empathic as an emotional ability. However, it can be hard to learn and hard to retain, and it has a huge effect on leadership (Jin et al. 2017).
Communication: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my communication skill 7. In both conversation and writing, successful leadership begins with strong communication skills in leadership — in a number of situations. I need to make sure the team members understand their mutual and individual goals, what they expect and how to find assistance if they need them. Communication is a bidirectional path, and I must be an involved and attentive listener (Singh et al. 2016).
Motivation: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my motivation skill 6. One main difference between mere management and true leadership is a gift to inspire people. Good leadership is far more than saying what to do to everybody. They have got a goal, and they are inspired by the leader in order to reach it. I must make all team members appreciate developing this ability. I must see that the success of the company is also yours and that you are rising individually and professionally (Swart et al. 2019).
Positivity: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my positivity as 7. An office will take a long way to a positive attitude. I should laugh at myself if anything does not go as expected. It will lead to maintaining an atmosphere of satisfaction and wellbeing even during hectic periods of stress. If workers believe they work in a good atmosphere, they are more likely to work and thus more willing to spend the long hours when they are needed.
Responsibility: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my responsibility skill as 8. A leader is responsible for both his team’s accomplishments and shortcomings. Therefore, when something goes wrong, you have to be able to take responsibility. When workers see their leader pointing their fingers and blame others, they lose respect for themselves. Accept errors and shortcomings and then come up with simple improvement solutions.
Everybody is welcome here in Tesco – everyone, wherever you work and what you do, has a place for everyone. We are an organisation with many complexes, exciting and friendly opportunities. Therefore, whatever your personal goals are, we will provide you with the opportunity, the tools and the learning needed to shape your own future. The ongoing process to develop, retain and record your professional skills is to continue the professional development or CPD. These abilities may be formally learned, through classes, training or through watching people informally on the job.
The continuous professional development period illustrates that like any other learning, professional development is best regarded as a circular sequence of activities. The mechanism moves from the recognition of your growth needs by preparing, then carrying out your learning activities to reflecting on your learning. Each person should decide his or her own needs, arrange his or her own training and learn for themselves. The most important thing about CPD may be that it’s personal. Part of becoming a professional is your own expertise and your appreciation when they have to develop.
Even if a large variety of variables will increase the self-improvement of individual professionals, not all in the field can improve at the same pace. Professionals will ensure that they remain in the same field as those who are also interested in CPD by investing in CPD. By investing in CPD you would be in the best place to provide a quality service to your expertise and experience. This helps the employees, customers and the rest of the world. Information will remain up to date and appropriate with CPD. Tendencies are continually evolving, and current expertise and skills can get rusty if you cannot keep pace. You can make your workplace more productive thanks to the increased awareness created by CPD. This helps to increase the likelihood that you will be able to guide, handle and teach others.
On a final note, I would state that my skills and knowledge have continuously developed. In these five years of working experience, I have attained new creative and leadership skills. Now, I focus on motivating and guiding my team and employees in order to attain the desired goals and objectives. As a leader, I must be capable of solving conflicts and making adequate decisions. I focus on continuous learning and I will strive to further develop and enhance my skills. The analysis of formative and summative assessment evaluates my creativity and leadership skills. The continuing professional development is vital as it ensures that you remain qualified in your career or industry. CPD is a continuous phase that continues throughout the career of a professional. It is vital that you continue to stay, promote your career and raise your profits. It is important. The final result of the well-planned ongoing phase of professional growth is to protect the public, my employer, myself as a professional person and my career. Continuing professional development is well conceived and implemented because it provides me, my practise, my employer and the public with benefits.
