Introduction

This assignment gives you the opportunity to evaluate and critically analyze aspects of financial statement. In your module’s materials is a portfolio of articles and suggested book titles that may be used for guidance and support aspects of your report. The articles are not exhaustive, and you will need to complete further research using ProQuest and other resources to complete individual tasks.

You are required to write a formal business report of 3000 words. The individual performance and grading is according to BSBI’s grading criteria where additional marks will be awarded for juxtaposition of your answers.

Introduction

In this assignment, you are asked to perform the financial analysis of the listed firm of your choice. Further, the selected firm should meet the following selection criteria.

  1. It should be listed on the stock exchange.
  • It should be not declared bankrupt previously.
  • Must be a recent annual report. (2020-2021)
  • You cannot perform this assignment on banks and financial firms.
  • The report must be available in the English language.

The financial statement can be accessed at the company’s website: Task 1

Explore the Accounting Information System that the company uses. Present their financial statements preparation, closing, and reporting activities. (LO1)

Task 2

Conduct the profitability analysis of the firm and compare its results with the average results of its relevant industry. (LO2)

Task 3

Evaluate the liability side of the balance sheet. (LO3)

  1. How are the liabilities structured and why?
  • How do they value their bonds or shares?

Task 4

Do the ratio analyses of the following coefficients: (LO3)

  1. Current ratio,
  • Acid-test ratio,
  • Debt-to-total assets ratio, and
  • Times interest earned ratio.
